A heads up to anyone who has a favorite Estee Lauder product because they not only just took a major hit but are committing financial suicide by teaming up with Gwyneth Paltrow.

Estee Lauder posts loss of $17.9 million

Published: August 13, 2009

For the three months ended June 30, Estee Lauder posted a loss of $17.9 million, or 9 cents per share, compared with profit of $120.2 million, or 61 cents per share, a year ago.

Estee Lauder said in February it planned to restructure operations to help save costs, which included trimming 2,000 jobs.

Before the recent plastic surgery

Great...now the GOOPster will be screwing up my local economy.  Estee Lauder here on Long Island is a manufacturing plant which has always been a refuge for people who need a second P/T job.  They were always hiring but having been of late.  Now if word gets around that they are teaming up with the Gwyneth again, sales will really be dismal.  There are just too many hipper cosmetic lines available at your local Sephora.

Estee Lauder 'Sensous' Campaign Starring Gwyneth and Liz Hurley

An inside source tells FOX411 that Gwyneth Paltrow has secret plans to shift her public image and become the next Martha Stewart. She wants to create her own lifestyle brands for women and families and cut back to doing one movie per year. Husband and Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin has even dubbed Gwyneth's appointments to plan her takeover of the lifestyle sector her "Martha Stewart meetings"!

The insider, who works with paltrow, tells FOX411, "Her plan is to stay visible in the occasional film, but to create products for real women. She is working on new products for her own beauty line under Estee Lauder and looking at different products for moms at home that she can tie to her website, GOOP."

This from  Kaiser  via Celebitchy.com

Anyway, Fox News 411 is reporting that Gwyneth’s next step to becoming the snottier, goopier version of Martha is to launch a series of Goop-branded products. Part of the Goop brand will be beauty products, launched under the Estee Lauder umbrella. Which means that Gwyneth probably isn’t mad about the weird circumstances surrounding the loss of her Estee Lauder modeling contract - it was probably mutual, and Gwyneth remained friends with the Lauder women. Gwyneth also wants a “Goop For Moms” brand that she can sell through her website, or as Fox’s source says, she wants “to create products for real women.” Oh, barf. In Goopy’s mind, “real women” = fat peasants.

The only products I care for is Lancome, L'Oreal (really Lancome but made here in the USA), Shiseido, Shu Uemera and of course,  MAC.  Lise Watier is a great brand of drugstore cosmetics I always snapped up when in Quebec.  Great lip and eye pencils.  Every other company is sort of out dated and has been replaced by superior cottagey type brands.

Sorry, but Bath & Body Works and The Body Shop have lame ass chemistry backing them.  Kevyn Aucoin is dead.  Kiehl's needs to come up to the times.  They were great 10 years ago but now...meh.  Hard Candy has great packaging but too pricey for this economy.  Victoria's Secret pales in comparison to other brands and depends on fragrance, not the actual quality of the products.  Clarins has had too many clunkers in their line and seemed innovative at the time but I've never been WOWED by them.  So I'd say the Estee Lauder conglomerate has only a handful of classic investments.  Adding GOOPY is not gonna help.  They need to remember...Americans never forget.

Since at least February, 2001, Estée Lauder and its brands have been the target of a boycott campaign. The boycott has been led by pro-Palestinian actvists who have targeted the corporation because of the pro-Israel activities of Ronald Lauder.[3][4] In June 2003, the San Francisco-based Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism (QUIT) took up the boycott with their "Estee Slaughter" campaign.[5] The boycott has generated an anti-boycott campaign by supporters of Israel.[6]

Here's a listing of their other holders.  Including Coach.  I've always been a Mark Cross person myself.
